Santos Delgado, the North San Juan man sentenced last year to three years' probation after allegedly firing at his son during an argument, was back in jail Friday morning after gunfire was reported at their Farrell Ravine Way property.
Nevada County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the property at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported a person tore down a gate and shots were fired. A second caller reported the man also had Maced someone.
“It was a tense situation,” Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Powell said.
As deputies arrived, they encountered several vehicles leaving the property and made felony stops, Powell said.
“People were being very elusive about what was going on,” he said.
As deputies interviewed witnesses, they heard more gunfire, Powell said. The trailers on the property were searched and deputies confiscated two 12-gauge shotguns, he said.
Delgado was arrested on suspicion of violating probation and is being held at county jail. The incident remains under investigation.
Delgado was previously arrested in May 2008 on suspicion of trying to kill his 21-year-old son by allegedly firing several shotgun rounds at him during an argument.
Investigators later discovered Delgado had not pointed or shot a gun at his son.
Delgado pleaded no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced in September 2008. He had two prior convictions for drug offenses, in 1993 and 1996.
