Red flag fire warning today

A red flag fire warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Sacramento until 9 p.m. tonight as storms move through Nevada County.

The warning is issued when critical fire conditions combine to heighten the likelihood of wildland blazes. The warning occurred because dry lightning strikes could easily ignite extremely dry forest fuels and grasses in the area, which could be pushed with today's gusty winds.
