It has been very gratifying to watch the monthly book swap evolve into a valuable community resource. I wanted to acknowledge those who help make it a successful “freecycling” event every month.
Thanks and gratitude to Eric and Enedina Juell of Nevada City Seafood for opening their hearts and warehouse to the community, Steve Mendonca for the vitally important tables, my bookies (the good kind) Becky Peabody and Christina Sabin who go the extra mile, Laura Miller our music maven and devoted swap advocate, and Judy Barlow of Web Smart Sierra for the swap's awesome Web site.
Additionally, heartfelt thanks to all the swappers whose support and generous book donations promote the essence of community and taking care of one another. Several of our non-profits have received leftovers including Hospice, Friends of the Library, Women of Worth, Animal Save and Scooter's Pals.
The next swap is this Sunday, Aug. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1020 Whispering Pines in Grass Valley. See you there. www.ncbookswap.info.
