Alan Brooke Stice succumbed to a heart attack at his Kirkwood home on Monday, June 29. He was 71.
A private viewing and cremation took place at the Daneri Mortuary in Jackson and no further services are planned at this time.
Alan was born on Feb. 24, 1938, in Oakland. He attended the University of California at Berkeley and served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Alan held master's degrees in applied mathematics, electrical engineering and business administration. He worked for Lockhead Martin Corporation in Sunnyvale for 35 years. He had lived in the Grass Valley area for ten years prior to his death.
Throughout his life, Alan participated enthusiastically in a number of outdoor sports including sailing, skiing, tennis, biking and hiking and many home construction/woodworking projects.
His passion was working in the prison ministry (Kairos and Inside Circle) in both California and Nevada. He was a member of the German-American Club's hiking group and sang with the Male Voice Choir and the Cornish Carol Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Stice of Grass Valley; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Heather Stice of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Laura Stice of Eugene, Ore.; two grandsons Zachary and Nicholas Stice of Eugene, Ore., and brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Dora Lou Stice of Lake Wildwood.
