Howard and Dee Simmons (pictured) of Grass Valley will be celebrating 40 years of marriage today.
They were married in 1969 in Big Bear Lake.
They are the parents of Kelli Simmons of Grass Valley. They have one grandchild.
Mrs. Simmons started her career as a dental assistant. As her daughter was growing up, she was a real estate agent. She continued as a physical therapist assistant and is now retired.
Mr. Simmons learned cement contracting from his father. He started his own business in Grass Valley when he moved from Big Bear Lake. He obtained his general contractor license and built spec houses.
The couple are active members of the local Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoy going on missions. They are enjoying traveling in their RV and playing golf in their free time.
