Stephen Burns, of Grass Valley, died July 1 in Grass Valley. He was 57.
For the past year, Mr. Burns had been the principal oft Grass Valley Charter School downtown. Before that, he worked for more than a decade in the Grass Valley School District as a special education coordinator.
He had been diagnosed with a brain tumor, his daughter, Melissa, told The Union.
Services will be held for Mr. Burns on Wednesday at a time and place to be announced. More information is expected to be published in Monday's edition of The Union.
Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City is handling the arrangements.
