Grass Valley native Matt DiBenedetto continued his fast climb through the NASCAR ranks last week, squeaking through a last-lap duel with Ryan Truex to win the Heluva Good! Summer 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

It was the second win in four NASCAR Camping World Series East starts for 17-year-old DiBenedetto, a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing.

According to NASCAR.com, DiBenedetto led twice for 39 laps. He lost the lead to Truex on the Lap 119 restart but was able to maintain second. On the final lap, the two drivers made contact several times before DiBenedetto won by .169 seconds.

The NASCAR Camping World Series East will next race at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway on July 11. DiBenedetto's win will be broadcasted at noon July 9 on the SPEED channel.

Marysville Raceway Park

Colfax's Colby Wiesz took the checkered flag in last Saturday's main event in the Pacific 360 Sprints at MRP.

Wiesz, who took second in his heat race, finished ahead of Grass Valley's Jeremy Burt, who took fourth. Burt, who ranks fourth in the season standings, finished fifth in his heat race after posting the second-fastest lap in time trials.

In Wingless Sprints, Grass Valley's Billy Wallace took fourth place, while Jay Youngman of Grass Valley was sixth. Cody Myers of Browns Valley finished seventh, Brett Youngman of Grass Valley ninth and Mason Myers of Browns Valley 15th.

Cody Myers currently holds third place in the drivers standings, while Brett Youngman stands in fourth place.

Placerville Speedway

Nevada City's Dan Brown Jr. had tough night on June 26 in Placerville, finishing ninth in the Limited Late Models/Pro Stocks main event.

But Brown Jr. still stands in second place in the season points race, 10 points behind Yuba City's Jerry Bartlett, who won Saturday's feature.
