Vocalist Laura Didier and the Jim Martinez Trio will present “A Tribute to the Music of Doris Day” concert on Tuesday, August 4. Please note Ms. Day will not be present.
A classically-trained Jazz pianist, Martinez has performed or recorded with notables like Lionel Hampton, the Stan Kenton Band, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Christian McBride, Benny Golson, Russell Malone, Roy Hargrove, and Ed Thigpen, who was the first drummer with the Oscar Peterson Trio. Local appearances include Music In The Mountains, Lake Wildwood Concert Series and multiple shows at the Miners Foundry.
Didier, currently living in North Carolina, has been performing steadily with the Jim Martinez Quartet since early 2007. Didier has performed at major jazz festivals in California, Idaho, and Canada including the famed Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
This event will feature stories, highlights and anecdotes from Ms. Day's career. Didier and Martinez will also perform some of Doris' popular hits spanning five decades, including “Sentimental Journey,” “Secret Love” and “Que Sera Sera.”
