Pauline Louise Dionne Whiting died on June 28 of natural causes at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 93.
A memorial service commemorating her life will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 11, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley.
She was born April 8, 1916, at Adobe Town, near Virginia City, Mont.
She lived her early life in Oakland and moved to Grass Valley in 1933 after her marriage to Edward C. Whiting who preceded her in death in 1973.
Pauline became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1957. During her nursing career she worked at Jones Hospital, the Nevada County Hospital and was the office nurse for a local physician for over 20 years. She ended her career at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital as the secretary to the nursing staff.
After her retirement she volunteered at the local blood pressure clinics until 2004.
Pauline was a life long member of the Grass Valley Emmanuel Episcopal church and was active on many church committees and auxiliary organizations. She also sang in the church choir for many years.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Neila Whiting of Grass Valley, and her son, Paul Whiting and his wife Jeanne of Folsom. She leaves a granddaughter, Beverly Tracy of Fair Oaks; grandson, Matthew Whiting of Grass Valley, and eight great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grass Valley Emmanuel Episcopal Church Choir Fund.
