Motor Sports Report: Fast times continue for Wiesz

Colby Wiesz continued his fast times on the track this season and apparently the “Colfax Comet” can't be contained to just one venue.

Wiesz, who leads the season points standings in the 360 Sprints at Placerville Speedway, headed over to Marysville Raceway Park last Saturday night and put on quite a show.

Wiesz won the Pacific 360 Sprints main event, holding off a strong field that also included Grass Valley's Jeremy Burt, who finished 20th. Wiesz finished sixth in his heat race, but came back with a victory in the eight-lap “Semi-Main” race. He then followed up by taking the checkered flag in the 20-lap feature.

Burt finished third in his heat race, which moved him into the main event, and also posted the fastest lap in time trials of 12.443 seconds — just ahead of Wiesz's 12.658.

Burt holds third place in the season points standings at MRP, behind leader Brent Dothage of Lower Lake and Yuba City's Korey Lovell.

Wingless Sprints

Grass Valley's Billy Wallace brought home first place in the Wingless Sprints feature, finishing ahead of Grass Valley's Brett Youngman, who took third place.

Wallace won his heat race, as did Browns Valley's Cody Myers. Youngman finished second in his heat race.

Mason Myers took 12th in the feature race, while Cody Myers was 14th and Grass Valley's Jay Youngman was 16th.
