The District 11, Area 2 Little League Majors Tournament of Champions will be an all Bear River affair tonight at the Bear River Little League diamond.

The Bear River Astros and the Bear River Diamondbacks each scored wins Thursday night to advance to today's 7 p.m. title game.

In Thursday's first semifinal, the Astros edged Nevada City's Dodgers by a 3-2 count, despite a stellar pitching performance from the Dodgers' Joey Souza. In 5 1⁄3 innings of action, Souza racked up 11 strikeouts while scattering four hits. Jordan Jiannino came on in relief with one strikeout.

Bobby Hildebrand also threw 51⁄3 innings for the Astros, picking up four strikeouts while allowing two hits. Kyle Soria struck out both batters he faced in relief to seal the win.

Hildebrand and Tyler Toft each went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Astros. Jiannino and Conner Upton, who had a double, were each 2-for-3 for the Dodgers. Jack Gerving blasted a two-run homer for the Dodgers.

The Astros moved to 21-1 on the season, while the Dodgers finished at 17-5.

In game two, Bear River's Diamondbacks beat the Sierra Foothill Braves 4-3.

Isaac Van Patten pitched to the maximum allowable pitches for the D'backs, before Martin Vigil took over down the stretch.

Vigil got out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the final inning, as the Braves grounded out to second base to end the game.

Coaches may file their game reports by calling The Union at 477-4240. Deadline to be included in the next day's edition of the newspaper is 10 p.m.
