Ten Mile Tide is a six-piece jammy-nominated band from San Francisco that describes their sound as high-energy folk-rock, feel-good muppet funk, and beer-drenched bluegrass
Summer is here and so is another season of hometown hospitality when Nevada County comes together to celebrate the Sierra foothill lifestyle and the tastes, sounds and sights of the summer of 2009.
The goal has always been “to bring the community together downtown for a weekly ‘night out' to celebrate Summer, get to know our neighbors, dine on healthy local food and enjoy a quality concert under the stars and our historic skyline.” This year will present the best in local and regional music and dance for your enjoyment and edification. There will be a community dining area with plenty of tables and hundreds of comfortable chairs where you can relax and enjoy the flavor of your choice — from barbecue ribs to vegetarian Tibetan curries and refreshing desserts, or an organic ale — all while enjoying the free concert.
Added to the mix this year are expanded entertainment and activities for children, such as a climbing wall, clowns and face painting. Arts & Crafts will be highlighted again, and new products, community organizations and public interest groups will offer outlets for your volunteer spirit. This year more local shops and restaurants are staying open late and offering merchant hospitality.
This three month series of events began with the Mill Street Certified Farmers Market, and features produce, flowers, healthy festival food, health & wellness practitioners and products and art and craft. The farmers market continues July 2 through August 27. The Main Street Stage will feature a Free Summer Concert Series hosting national touring musicians of all genre. Nearby will be the Global Food Court and community dining area. On Auburn Street, the child-safe area will feature activities for children.
More than 200 vendors, artists, farmers, crafters, restaurants and shops will participate this year, making this event the largest weekly street festival in the Sierra. The selections of products and services available reflect our valued foothill lifestyle. Shoppers and browsers in our corner of the Sierra Foothills know that the tasteful collections and selections found at our restaurants and retail shops are unique, interesting and are always changing and affordable.
The Thursday Night Marketplace is an event for the whole family (leave Fido at home, it's not just a good idea, it's the law). Remember to wear your walking (or dancing) shoes!
