Caltrans road report



Caltrans announces the following road work schedule for the week of June 14 to 20:

Detour schedule

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Colfax to Secret Town: Work is set to begin on the $70 million Gold Run III construction project to repair Interstate 80. Work involves overlaying the mainline with asphalt concrete, replacing the median barrier, upgrading the drainage system and improvements to the bridges throughout the project boundaries. Completion is expected in October 2009. All vehicles exceeding 18 feet in total length (with or without tow) will be required to use the bus/truck detour. All vehicles 18 feet or less (with or without tow) will be allowed to proceed to the Secret Town Detour.

Trucks and buses please note – The truck and bus detour will begin one hour prior to the closures. All trucks and buses will be stored and given a full safety inspection by the CHP prior being piloted through. (Please expect at least an extra hour and a half delay)



June 14 - 20

On westbound Interstate 80 from Secret Town Road to Colfax: Motorists can expect following:

Sunday, June 14: from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.: westbound #2 closed

Monday, June 15: from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.: westbound #2 closed

Tuesday, June 16: from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.: westbound #2 closed

Wednesday, June 17: from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.: westbound #2 closed

Thursday, June 18: from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.: westbound #2 closed

Friday, June 19: no traffic interfering work scheduled

Saturday, June 20: no traffic interfering work scheduled

On eastbound Interstate 80 from Colfax to Secret Town Road: Motorist can expect the following:

Sunday, June 14: from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.: a full eastbound closure

Monday, June 15: from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.: a full eastbound closure

Tuesday, June 16: from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.: a full eastbound closure

Wednesday, June 17: from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.: a full eastbound closure

Thursday, June 18: from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.: a full eastbound closure

Friday, June 19: no traffic interfering work scheduled

Saturday, June 20: no traffic interfering work scheduled

Granite Construction is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work. The detours will be clearly signed and patrolled by the California Highway Patrol.



Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Soda Springs to Donner Summit: Work continues on the Donner II Project, a $65 million major construction project to improve Interstate 80. Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, replacing metal beam guardrail, rehabilitating existing drainage systems, and install an improved storm water collection system. Completion is expected in 2009. No traffic interfering work is anticipated.



Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Donner Summit to Donner Lake: Work continues on the $71 million Donner III construction project to improve Interstate 80. Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, adding new drainage systems, upgrading existing drainage systems and construction of a new sediment/debris collection system. Completion is expected in 2011.

May 18, 2009 – October 15, 2009

On Interstate 80 at the Nyack Vista Point: Motorists can expect a long-term closure of the Vista point on and off-ramps. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

June 14 - 19

On westbound Interstate 80 from the Donner Park to Castle Peak: Motorists can expect the westbound #1 lane closed from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Donner Lake to Donner Pass Road in Truckee: Work continues on the $70 million Donner I construction project to improve Interstate 80. Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, adding new drainage systems, upgrading existing drainage systems, construction of a westbound truck-climbing lane from Donner Pass Road to the Donner Lake Interchange and construction of a new sediment/debris collection system. Completion is expected in 2010.

June 15 - 18

On eastbound Interstate 80 from the Donner Lake under crossing to Donner Pass Road: Motorists can expect the eastbound #1 lane closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

June 15 - 18

On westbound Interstate 80 from the Trout Creek under crossing the Donner Lake under crossing: Motorists can expect the westbound #1 lane closed from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Boca to the Nevada State line: Work continues on the $73 million Truckee River Canyon construction project to improve Interstate 80. Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, adding new drainage systems, upgrading existing drainage systems, construction of a westbound truck-climbing lane from Donner Pass Road to the Donner Lake Interchange and construction of a new sediment/debris collection system. Completion is expected in 2010.

June 14 - 20

On westbound Interstate 80 from Floriston to the Nevada State line: Motorists can expect various westbound lane and ramp closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (noon Friday) Sunday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

On eastbound Interstate 80 from Floriston to the Nevada State line: Motorists can expect various eastbound lane and ramp closures from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. (noon Friday) Sunday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

Short-term projects

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the Yuba County line to Interstate 80: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is schedule to do maintenance work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from Harmony Ridge Road to White Cloud: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is schedule to do maintenance work.

State Route 49 (Nevada and Yuba Counties) from Placer County line to Marysville Road: Motorists can expect the north and southbound #1 lanes closed from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) at State Route 89: Motorists can expect the eastbound exit to southbound State Route 89 closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do paving.

State Route 174 (Nevada County) from State Route 20 to the Placer County line: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

State Route 267 (Nevada County) from Interstate 80 to the Truckee River: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do bridge joint work.

The Caltrans District 3 Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.

Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
