Two people remain in custody after being arrested early Tuesday morning in Alta Sierra on drug charges. A third person was booked in the Nevada County jail and released on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
A Nevada County Sheriff's deputy observed a woman rummaging through a mailbox near Alta Sierra Drive and Tippy Way just before 1 a.m., said Sheriff Keith Royal. The woman, identified as Crystal Nicole Hart, 27, was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest for driving on a suspended license.
Hart was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had a glass pipe with meth in her possession, Royal said.
She was booked into county jail on suspicion of being under the influence, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing a controlled substance. She was being held in lieu of $12,000 bail on those charges. She also had pending the prior suspended-license charge and prior cases on charges of felony burglary and drug sales.
The deputy also saw a vehicle parked nearby with a man and a woman inside, Royal said. The man, Christopher Edward Carson, 20, allegedly had a meth pipe, a small plastic bag with meth inside and a small plastic bag with a cutting agent. The deputy also found a digital scale and small, empty plastic bags, Royal said.
Carson was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and possessing controlled substances for sale. He was being held at the county jail in lieu of $36,000 bail.
The woman in the vehicle, Amber Lynn Gorman, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of controlled substances, booked and released on $1,000 bail.
