Lives Lived: Alan Burton



Alan Grant Burton died May 20 in Nevada City. He was 57.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., June 10, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 255 South Auburn St., Grass Valley. Another Celebration of Life will be held in North San Juan at a later date.

He was born Dec. 29, 1951, to Harvey and Mary (Matthews) Burton in Richmond.

He completed high school at San Lorenzo High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was an operating engineer.

His hobbies were hiking, fishing, swimming, working on small engines and listening to good music.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Burton, of North San Juan; brother, Steven Burton of Oregon; sisters, Zandi Bothwell of Livermore and Kandy Bennett of Yarnell, Ariz.; aunts, Betty Mauer and Jean Kaufenberg, both of Antioch; nieces Sharon Payne and Kim Dockins, both of Forest Grove, OR. and nephew, Tim Burton of Grass Valley.

He was predeceased by his father, Harvey Burton; mother, Mary Null and brother David Burton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
