Ruth A. Cain died May 31 in Grass Valley. She was 87.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at the Santa Rosa Seventh Day Adventist Church, 840 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa. Private internment will take place at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.

She was born Jan. 22, 1922, to Alex and Lucile Sappingfield in Fields Landing.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Santa Rosa for over 60 years.

She is survived by her son, Gary Cain of Nevada City; daughter, Glenda Griffitts of Shasta Lake; sister, Claire Snider of Paradise, five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews and four nieces.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
