The Nevada County Economic Resource Council has created a Web portal where small business owners can learn how to get federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding.
Go to www.ncerc.org and click on the link in the middle of the page that says “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.”
There, you can download a pdf document with a line-by-line listing of each appropriation in the recovery act, crafted by Keith Logan, a business sustainability expert working with the ERC. You will find the agency involved, the amount of federal funding, what the money is for and additional comments.
Appropriations that might be relevant to Nevada County public agencies and businesses are clearly identified in blue, and links are provided to the appropriate agencies where you can find more information. Some agencies have dispersed their funding, while others are still in the early stages of implementation.
You can do a word search for relevant appropriations; for example, a word search on “water” will bring up several funding opportunities.
In addition, the recovery act's main Web page, www.recovery.gov, has an excellent tool which allows the viewer to pull up the recovery plans for each agency of the federal government.
The page is available now and is being continually updated.
