Thanks from the Gold Run kids
These three youngsters Ian Glaspey, Gabe Spiropoulos and Andy OBrien attend Gold Run School in Nevada City. Their teacher, Linda Miller, wanted to send a big thank you to the folks at Nevada City Public Works for installing new wheelchair-accessible sidewalks near the school.
Linda writes: Our classroom (has) K-2 students with severe disabilities, including three wheelchair students. We especially appreciate having access to the Seven Hills community on our school walking field trips.
Linda works with Special Education Services out of the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools office.

Vietnam vets meeting
Did you see the story we ran May 16 about Estelle Rees Arroyo, the 92-year-old Grass Valley lady who just earned her bachelors degree from Sac State?
Estelle wanted readers to know about the meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday of the local chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America. Its at the Veterans Memorial Building, 255 S. Auburn St., Grass Valley.
Pennies for Hospice
This weekend, Friends of Hospice will be happy to help you with the loose change weighing you down.
Volunteers with the Pennies Can fund drive will be collecting donations in front of SPD Market in Grass Valley and Nevada City, at Holiday Market in Penn Valley, and at Raleys Supermarket, Longs Drug and B&C True Value Home & Garden Center, all in Grass Valley.
All proceeds go to Hospice of the Foothills.
