At 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, a woman from the 800 block of Zion Street reported finding a tarantula in her house that was too large for her to move.
She had it trapped in a plastic container with several books piled on top and wanted assistance in removing the spider from her residence. She said the spider had assumed a defensive posture and had its front legs extended in an aggressive manner.
Officers made contact and later declared the spider was deceased.
For more from the police blotter, read Wednesday's edition of The Union.
