The Expanding Light Retreat will present the results of the organizations study of the effect of Ananda yoga, meditation and energization exercises on patients with early stage multiple sclerosis.
The free presentation will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and again at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Expanding Light retreat, off Tyler Foote Cross Road on the San Juan Ridge.
In early 2008, the Expanding Light co-sponsored a research study of Ananda yoga for people with MS. Other sponsors included California State University, Sacramento, and Sierra Family Medical Clinic in North San Juan.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of an Ananda yoga routine on various aspects of day-to-day functioning and quality of life in individuals with MS.
The events will include an introductory demonstration of how energization exercises can increase body awareness, neuromuscular coordination and an experience of energy. Yoga and meditation session are available as well.
Call (800) 346-5350 or (530) 478-7518 for information about options for meals and day or overnight accommodations. For driving directions, visit www.expandinglight.org.
