Have you ever heard Brasilian or Syrian classical piano music? If not, you will get the chance this Sunday. TCCA presents pianist Joel Fan, a member of Yo-Yo Mas Silk Road Project and one of the hottest young pianists on the international scene.
Joel Fans World Keys program includes pieces from all over the globe by both famous composers such as Prokofiev, Liszt, Chopin, and Beethoven, as well as lesser known ones from countries not usually associated with piano music.
Were so excited to bring Joel Fan here to Nevada County, said Ken Hardin, Artistic Director. This program is masterful, bringing works for piano from all over the world such as China, Syria, Turkey. All of the pieces are beautiful, but you can sure hear the cultural influence. Joel performs them all seamlessly regardless of style. Hes an amazing musician.
Fans career began with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 11 after winning the Philharmonics Young Peoples Concert Auditions.
He began studying piano seriously at the Juilliard School and has received both a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Peabody Institute as a student of Leon Fleisher.
His solo CD World Keys, reached no. 3 on Billboards Classical Chart in 2006.
