2 women arrested after robbery

A drug deal gone sour was the alleged motivation of a woman who broke into a North San Juan house and stole $100 at gunpoint, Nevada County Sheriff’s Lt. Shannan Moon said.

A man from the 11000 block of Birchville Road called 911 at about 4 p.m. Tuesday to report a woman had broken into his home. He told sheriff’s deputies she had given him money to buy drugs, but that he did not have the drugs or the money, Moon said.

“They got into a very heated argument,” Moon said.

The woman allegedly then pulled a gun and threatened to shoot him, Moon added.

“She took what cash he did have,” she said.

Justine Renee Chapman, 28, of Penn Valley, was arrested during a vehicle stop in Grass Valley. A search warrant was obtained for a Grass Valley residence that she allegedly had just visited. There, deputies found some evidence, including the money, as well as a methamphetamine pipe, Moon said. No weapon was located, she added.

Chapman was booked on charges of strong-arm robbery, possessing drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. She posted $51,000 bail and was released Wednesday afternoon.

Kristy Marie Amberson, 28, a woman who was at the residence, was arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy and being an accessory after allegedly removing evidence. She remains in county jail on $50,000 bail.
