Nevada Citys Graeme Pitts, 18, took second in the Open Class Dual Stunt at Sea Otter Classic.
Dual stunt is riding over obstacles such as stairs, curved walls and other large obstacles. Last years event included a water feature with a skinny track above it.
Pitts suffered a huge crash on his second run, but he walked away with some flesh wounds and bruises. Unfortunately, it left him sore and exhausted for his main event the next day the Pro Downhill.
Competing against 124 of the top riders in the world, Pitts, a rookie pro rider, earned 70th place.
Next stop on the race schedule for Pitts, who rides for Santa Cruz Bicycles and Kirt Voreis AllRide Academy, is the Fluidride Cup in Port Angeles, Wash. Friday and Saturday.
The race offers points for World Cup races, and attracts hundreds of riders including many top level pros. Following this weekends race, Pitts will be in New Jersey for the U.S. Open over Memorial Day weekend.
