Spaghetti feed in Rough and Ready
Rough and Readys Volunteer Fire Department needs to build a new firehouse, so the wonderful ladies at the Ladies Auxiliary are holding a spaghetti dinner and Dutch auction to help raise money.
Dinner is at 6 p.m. Saturday and includes spaghetti with vegetarian or meat sauce, garlic bread, green salad, homemade desserts, coffee and punch. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 12 years and younger. Tickets are available at the door.
Bring your dollar bills for the Dutch auction, which will include items donated by local merchants.
If youve never heard of a Dutch auction, weve had them around here for a while. The auctioneer starts at the asking price and lowers the price until someone makes an offer something a little different!
Its all at the 11042 Rough and Ready Road. Call 432-8931 with questions.
Get your groove on
If you are missing the 1960s, get out your old bellbottoms and tie-dyed shirts (or borrow them from the grandkids) and head to the Nevada County Jewish Congregation hall for the Groovy Kids 60s dinner, dance and silent auction.
Its at 6 p.m. Saturday at 506 Walsh St., downtown Grass Valley, hosted by the Bnai Harim Temple. Call 477-6099 for info.
Holy diamonds!
Anew Day, the faith-based counseling service in Grass Valley, will be raffling a 14-karat white-gold-and-diamond cross pendant valued at $750 donated by the kind people at Stucki Jewelers in downtown Grass Valley among other wonderful prizes at their third annual banquet.
Other prizes include a six- or seven-night stay in a two-bedroom, full-kitchen condo in either Monterey or Windsor, Calif. (your choice).
The event is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Calvary Bible Church, 11481 Highway 174, just east of Grass Valley. Cost is $30 pr person and $300 for a table. Call 271-1100 for information.
Readers Corner is compiled by The Union staff. To submit items, e-mail them to readers@theunion.com, and put RC and your topic in the subject line, or call 477-4230.
