Fracas lands 2 in jail

A Lake Wildwood man remains in custody after he allegedly injured a security officer who was trying to detain him Sunday evening.

Andrew Daniel Morgan, 20, and Devon Lee Jennings, 19, were under the influence and “hollering lewd comments” at women on the lake at about 5:53 p.m. Sunday, according to the police blotter.

Lake Wildwood security officers attempted to detain Morgan and he fought them, kicking one of the officers in the knee and groin, Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal said. Morgan allegedly sustained a split lip during his fight with the security officers.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene, Morgan tried to attack them as well, Royal said.

Jennings was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, booked and released. Morgan was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, battery with serious bodily injury and battery on a peace officer and remains in county jail in lieu of $16,750 bail.

In other news, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an altercation in the 10000 block of Greenwood Road at about 8 p.m. Saturday. Ryan Donald Palmieri, 36, “became enraged” at his grandfather and started choking him, Royal said. The grandfather allegedly was able to free himself by hitting Palmieri in the head with a flashlight.

Both men were treated at the hospital and released. Palmieri was arrested on suspicion of elder abuse and battery with serious bodily injury and remains in county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
