Police blotter: April 7, 2009



Grass Valley Police Department

Sunday

12:20 a.m. — A caller from the Empire Street overcrossing reported a light on the overpass was hanging down and needed repair.

1:27 a.m. — A woman from Kathleen Way reported a car kept flashing its headlights and was sitting in front of the house. The driver was found to be having engine problems.

2:49 a.m. — A person was contacted who was running on Colfax Avenue. The person was determined to be jogging.

8:24 a.m. — A caller from the 800 block of Sutton Way reported a man was “pounding on” a woman, trying to get her out of a vehicle. They drove off in separate vehicles.

2:16 p.m. — A caller from the 400 block of West Main Street reported new graffiti on a city stairway.

7:03 p.m. — A caller from McKnight Way reported a man who had been in the parking lot for eight hours and was panhandling. He was cited.

11:58 p.m. — A woman reported a Jeep had flipped over on the frontage road between South Auburn Street and Colfax Avenue.

Monday

12:08 a.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Silver Way reported a single-vehicle accident. The driver reportedly smelled of alcohol and left the scene.

1:27 a.m. — A woman from Rockwood Drive reported she had a rat stuck in a trap and it was making noise.

8:17 a.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Alta Sierra Drive reported receiving threats of bodily harm from a motorcycle gang.

11:11 a.m. — A caller from the 11000 block of Shepherd Road reported a drunken woman passed out on the property.

12:01 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Rough and Ready Highway reported extensive damage to the front of the fence of the cemetery. A vehicle had hit the fence.

1:57 p.m. — A person from the 18000 block of Gray Oak Drive was at the hospital reporting an assault, then left against medical advice.

3:20 p.m. — A caller from the 19000 block of Highway 174 reported car parts had been stolen on Saturday.

5:54 p.m. — A caller from the 11000 block of Grange Court reported someone broke into the grange hall, possibly during the night.

7:10 p.m. — A caller from the 18000 block of Penn Valley Drive reported two shirtless men were “beating a tree” and beating park structures with a bat at Western Gateway Park. They were screaming and appeared to be trying to instigate a fight. They then were seen leaving the park.

7:42 p.m. — A man from the 15000 block of John Way reported someone called his elderly mother and said they would steal all her wood. Extra patrol was requested.

7:42 p.m. — A man from the 16000 block of Old Downieville Highway reported there were two 14-year-old girls outside a house occupied by older males. He believed they were giving the girls alcohol.

8:24 p.m. — A caller from Highway 49 and Heesche Avenue reported two vehicles squealing their tires and speeding.

10:11 p.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of North Bloomfield-Graniteville Road reported two people in a blue Bronco were trying to break into a barn. The report was unfounded.

1:01 p.m. — A caller from Nimrod Street reported a juvenile was taken to the emergency room with numerous injuries caused by another juvenile. The two had been stick fighting.

5:52 p.m. — A man from the 400 block of Railroad Avenue reported his mother was threatening to have someone beat him up.

5:56 p.m. — A man from a business in the 500 block of Searls Avenue reported belongings had been stolen from a locker.

8:33 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Broad Street reported a woman in a blue jumpsuit asking for a ride who might have walked away from the county jail. The jail reported the woman had just been released on her own recognizance.
