Two experts on finance and economics will speak at the 2009 Nevada County Economic Forecast Conference later this month.
Gary Zimmerman is a senior economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. David Gallo is an economics professor at California State University, Chico.
Gallo is the resident economics professor of the universitys Center for Economic Development, which tracks economic trends at the county level in Northern California.
Gallo recently predicted the combined effect of the federal stimulus package, the newly signed California budget, state tax increases and cuts would haul California out of its economic problems and create at least 186,000 jobs though the transition will be painful.
We should come up with a plus by 2010, Gallo said in a recent interview with the Chico Enterprise-Record.
Zimmerman is a frequent speaker on economic topics on behalf of the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco.
Both will help listeners understand how national and regional economic trends affect the local economy.
The conference is from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Gold Miners Inn Holiday Inn Express, 121 Bank St., downtown Grass Valley.
Cost is $20 and includes breakfast and a copy of Gallos 2008 Nevada County Economic and Demographic Profile.
Space is limited; RSVP to the Nevada County Economic Resource Council at info@ncerc.org or 274-8455.
The ERC, Citizens Bank and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. are sponsoring the conference.
