The Bear River High School Lady Bruins junior varsity basketball team (10-2 overall) defeated the Placer Hillgals 38-32 Friday night in Pioneer Valley League play, led by sophomore Aubrey Hornes 16 points.
Freshman Brenna Klauer had seven points and seven rebounds, while Willa Davis added six points and led the team in rebounding with 10. Jennifer Meylor finished with six assists.
The JV Lady Bruins are now 2-0 in the Pioneer Valley League.
Frosh: Bear River 52, Placer 24
Janelle Jensen scored 14 points and Casey Brown grabbed 11 boards, as Bear Rivers freshman girls team topped Placer Friday.
Maddie Phelps scored nine and Katelyn Kennedy had eight points for the Bruins, while Sarah Sasville had six rebounds.
Bear Rivers frosh (7-7 overall, 2-0 PVL) return to the court Jan. 16. against Lincoln.

FLCs junior varsity girls got a balanced attack in Fridays Central Valley Christian League win over visiting Vacaville Christian.
Maggie Aubuchon had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Madeline Zea had nine points and four boards. Taylor Engbrecht totaled seven points and Sterling Marich had five points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Falcons. Hannah Masterson had a strong game in the paint with seven rebounds and two blocks.
FLC improved to 9-7 overall and 1-1 in the CVCL.
