Nissan ‘going away’ from relocated Ford dealership

Ford-Lincoln Mercury-Nissan of Grass Valley will open Jan. 2 in Auburn but without Nissan vehicles, co-owner Don Neronde said Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Neronde said he was relocating his Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealership to Auburn, but the fate of Nissan had remained up in the air.

“Nissan is not coming with us,” Neronde told The Union on Tuesday. “It will be Ford, Lincoln and Mercury. Nissan will be going away.”

Neronde’s Ford dealership will offer two shuttles to bring customers from Auburn to the Grass Valley area while they are being repaired.

The Auburn dealership has 21 lifts for vehicles, compared with 10 lifts in Grass Valley.

The Ford dealership’s relocation follows the closure of Weaver Truck and Auto. Weaver’s land is set to be auctioned off on January 2, but Weaver has vowed reopen a dealership in the middle of next year.

In June 2005 Nissan honored Grass Valley Ford-Lincoln Mercury-Nissan owners for 25 years of dealer excellence.

Fresh & Easy, the U.S. arm of U.K. grocery giant Tesco, has expressed an interest in the Grass Valley Ford site. It has fallen behind on its Northern California expansion plans, though it doesn’t preclude it from scouting out site locations, a spokesman said Tuesday.
