The young girls fastpitch softball team includes four players destined for the Bear River roster in the spring, and one who will be a freshman in 2009.
Coach Brad Ceo commended the team for their commitment and hard work after their undefeated run at the double elimination tournament.
Sundays championship game was scoreless for five and a half innings when the Hustle put up one run on deep shot to right field.
Coming to the plate in the seventh and final inning, the bottom of the Crushers lineup answered with three runs courtesy of an RBI from Seven Hills eighth grader Halie Heth to tie the game, followed by a line drive to the gap in right field by Bear River freshman Alyssa Reina to go ahead two runs.
A state championship a mere three outs away, the Crushers took the field in the bottom of the seventh. With freshmen Stephanie Ceo and Courtney Edwards at second and third, respectively, and junior Lacy Southerland at shortstop, the Crushers saw four batters, made three infield outs and celebrated a big victory.
