The population of Nevada County, Grass Valley and Nevada City is expected to decline from 2006 to this year, while Truckees is expected to increase, according to a fact sheet prepared by the countys Economic Resource Council.
The countys population is projected to be 99,186 this year, compared with 100,066 for 2006, according to the data, both real and projected figures from the state department of finance.
Grass Valleys population is expected to be 12,929, this year, compared with 13,031 for 2006; and Nevada Citys is 3,074, down from 3,088. Truckee, by contrast, will grow to 16,165 from 15,915 for the same period, according to the data.
The information contained on Nevada County Facts and distributed this fall, provides an interesting economic snapshot of the county. Some other data, such as weather, was also included.
Per capita income stands at $40,203, ranking 17th of the states 58 counties, according to the data, from the year 2006. Median adjusted gross income, based on 2004 tax returns, are $34,284 for individuals and $58,105 for joint filers.
Nineteen percent of the countys labor force is employed by government the largest single chunk followed by transportation trade and utilities, at 17 percent; leisure and hospitality, at 14 percent; education and health services, at 12 percent; and natural resources, mining and construction; at 12 percent. Information accounts for just 1 percent.
Vehicle registration stood at 129,374 in 2005, including 68,755 autos, 30,634 trucks, 4,250 motorcycles and 25,735 trailers.
Average annual rainfall stands at 53 inches in the western county, compared with 32 inches in the eastern county. Annual snowfall is 0.8 inches in the western county, compared with 202 inches in the eastern county. The weather data came from the Western Regional Climate Center.
