Bob and Mary Jo Enright (pictured at right) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4.
Their celebration began Sept. 5 with a trip to Vancouver Island, B.C., and to Whistler, B.C., accompanied by family members.
After returning home to Grass Valley, friends from their church threw a dinner party. More relatives visited and celebrated with them later in the month (for details, visit this Web site).
The Enrights were married in Grass Valley on Oct. 4, 1958.
Mrs. Enright’s family has been in Grass Valley since the 1800’s. She was born here and attended school here and graduated from Nevada Union High School.
Her parents are the late C.K. “Kay” and Marge Heffren. Kay was the owner of Heffren Insurance Agency and district manager for the Farmers Insurance Group.
Mr. Enright moved to Grass Valley in 1952 with his parents: His father, the late Virgil Enright, and his mother, Eva Enright. They opened Enright’s Donut Shop at the corner of Mill and Main streets.
Mr. Enright attended Nevada Union through his junior year. The family moved from Grass Valley in 1956, and he graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in Sacramento.
Mr. Enright worked for Litton Engineering Labs, was assessor collector for the Nevada Irrigation District, and an appraiser for Nevada County before having his own appraisal business.
Mrs. Enright worked for the Nevada Union High School District from 1977 to 1994.
Those who celebrated their anniversary include children Teri, of Monterey; Robert Enright and his wife Cheri, of San Diego; Mrs. Enright’s sister, Judy Bagley, and niece Wendy Trankle, of Grass Valley.
They have three grandchildren, Meghan Lewis of Davis (who planned the Canada trip), Brad Lewis, serving in the United States Air Force in Japan, and Whitney Enright, serving in the United States Navy in Norfolk, Va.
