Jerry Glen Waren of Auburn died Sept. 25.
Funeral services were held in San Pablo last week. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Darkhorse Golf Course Club House, 24150 Darkhorse Drive, Auburn.

Jerry was born May 8, 1939. He was the beloved husband of JoAnne Waren; devoted and loving father of Kimberly Fitzgerald, Christopher Waren, and Stacy Miller; a caring brother of Gary Waren; treasured son of Lorenne Waren and the late Morris (Moe) Waren, and the cherished grandfather of Brandon Fitzgerald, Stefanie Fitzgerald, Leslie Miller, and Allison Miller.
Jerry touched many lives with his genuine caring spirit, never ending generosity, and always comforting and uplifting nature. He was born in Shawnee, Okla. He graduated from Richmond High School with honors, starred on the debate team, lettered in tennis, and met and fell in love with his devoted and loving wife of 49 years. Jerry attended the University of California, Berkeley, studying engineering, served as production manager and vice president of Bio-Rad Laboratories, and later retired from Matson Navigation in 2005, culminating a 45 year career in civil engineering. He was an active, caring member of his community, as he served as Vice President of the Mountain Lakes Estates Homeowners Association in Nevada City for several years, and as President of the Darkhorse Homeowners Association for the past year. Jerry enjoyed traveling with his friends and family, romantic cruises with his wife, coaching baseball, and gardening at his beautiful home. An avid reader and history buff, Jerry was the hit at every social gathering, dazzling all with his colorful and endless stories. Jerry was one of a kind.
