Here's a look at how some athletes with local ties fared recently at the college and professional level:
Caroline Reeves (Nevada Union, '08); Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo - Reeves, a former basketball and volleyball player, has made the women's basketball team at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
Reeves had gone to the school in the hopes that she could walk on after declining offers at other universities.
Volleyball
Megan Wisniewski (Forest Lake Christian, '05); UC, Santa Cruz - Wisniewski went on a tear over the week, compiling 66 kills in five wins and one loss.
She tallied 15 kills, a dig and one block in a 3-2 win over Menlo. She had 12 kills and one block in a 3-0 win over Holy Names. She followed with 11 kills and one dig in a 3-1 win against Whittier College. In a loss to Cal State East Bay, she had six kills, two digs and one block.
She totaled 11 kills in another win against Holy Names, along with two digs and two blocks. She also had 11 kills and three digs in a 3-1 win over Dominican.
The Slugs are now 16-5 with Wisniewski leading the team with 230 kills.
Ali Daley (Nevada Union, '05); UCLA - Daley had three kills in a win against Oregon State on Saturday.
Kylie Miraldi (Nevada Union, '08); San Jose State - In a sweep over Louisiana Tech Saturday, Miraldi tallied eight kills in the winning effort.
Football
James Brindley (Nevada Union, '06); Utah State - Brindley had four tackles at safety in a 34-14 loss to BYU.
Brennan McFadden (Nevada Union, '05); Utah State - McFadden started at right guard for the Aggies in a 34-14 loss to BYU Saturday.
Chris Ulinski (Nevada Union, '06); Utah State - Ulinski booted two kickoffs for 130 yards in a 34-14 loss to BYU.
Zach Masch (Nevada Union, '07); Arizona Western - Masch, playing at defensive tackle, had five solo tackles as the Matadors lost to Glendale Community College, 30-14.
Andrew Jackson (Nevada Union, '06); Fresno State University - Jackson started on the offensive line for the Bulldogs in a 32-29 overtime loss to conference rival Hawaii.
Taylor Dever (Nevada Union, '07); Notre Dame - Dever played on the offensive line in the Fighting Irish's 28-21 win over Stanford Saturday.
Kevin Grimes (Bear River, '06); The University of Nevada-Reno - Grimes had five tackles and one pass defensed in the Wolfpack's 49-14 win over Idaho.
Soccer
Courtney Paquin (Nevada Union, '05); Belmont Abbey College (Belmont, North Carolina) - Paquin, playing defender, helped her team blank Anderson in a 2-0 win Saturday.
Rachel Wittler (Nevada Union '07); William Jessup - Playing at midfield and defender, Wittler helped her team to an 8-0 shutout over Bethany University.
William Jessup is now 3-0 in league and ranked 44th in the NAIA.
Nikki Mathis (Bear River, '06); Biola University - Nikki Mathis played in a 2-1 loss to Point Loma Nazarene.
