Woman dies from wreck injuries

Print Comment
A Grass Valley woman died Sunday from injuries suffered earlier in the week in a Highway 49 vehicle crash.

Joy Trotter, 42, died from major injuries Sunday at the UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Dina Hernandez.

The deceased was driving alone and was not wearing her seat belt when her accident occurred on Highway 49 at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 1., Hernandez said. Alcohol was not involved.

The driver was southbound on the highway just south of Tadpole Creek near Alta Sierra when her vehicle drifted to the right and hit a guardrail for unknown reasons, Hernandez said.

Trotter’s vehicle then shot across the other lanes of the highway, became airborne and hit a tree about 50 mph.

The victim was taken by ambulance for care but succumbed to her wounds about 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
