Wind gusts are predicted to create prime fire conditions in the central and northern Sierra through Friday morning according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
Dry vegetation and gusts expected from 25 to 40 mph caused a hazardous fire weather warning to be issued for western Nevada County.
North of the county, the Sierra and Sacramento Valley are under a full red flag warning through Friday morning, with gusts up to 40 mph expected into Saturday morning.
Temperatures will remain in the low 90s in western Nevada County through Sunday, adding to the fire danger.
