Print Comment
Grass Valley's Jay Youngman had a doubly good weekend at two separate stops in his winged sprints ride, earning a pair of second-place finishes.

On Friday night, Youngman drove to first place in his heat race at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, before finishing second in the main event. Browns Valley's Cody Myers took eighth place, after sixth-place heat race, and brother Mason Myers crossed the line in 18th, after placing second in his heat qualifier.

Saturday night in the Cy Francis Memorial at Marysville Raceway Park saw a similar night for Youngman, who ran to third place in his heat before his runner-up run in the main event. Tony Richards of Chico took first place.

Grass Valley's Brett Youngman, who currently ranks fourth in the season standings, took sixth place.

Pacific Sprints

Jeremy Burt, the 2007 track champ at MRP, took fifth place in Saturday's Pacific Sprints main event behind first place driver Cort Dozier of Marysville. Dozier ranks third in the season series, while Burt stands fifth. Lower Lake's Brent Dothage leads the season series.

Also on Saturday, Colfax's Colby Wiesz finished fourth in the 360 Sprints main event at Placerville Speedway, after posting a first place run in his heat race. Pat Harvey of Grass Valley finished fourth in his heat and 17th in the main event.

Motocross

E Street MX

Jesse Van Roekel, a Nevada Union High School sophomore, moved into third place in the 85 Beginner class after seven races in the Summer MX Series.

Van Roekel, who matched his best finish of the season last week with another third place, has now placed among the top five finishers three times this summer.

He moved up from seventh place in the standings, where he stood last week.
