Aug. 16 All-star Cowboy Poetry, featuring Larry Maurice, Karen Macy and Jim Cardwell at 7:30 p.m. in the main theater at the Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley. For more information call (530) 432-8196 or (530) 274-8384.

About the poets: Nationally know Larry Maurice, Nevada County's own Karen Macy and Jim Cardwell, from Oroville with his dry-western humor and quirky catalog of life's experiences. Aug. 16 The 9th Annual Ridgestock Music & Sustainability Expo. Celebrating and sharing green living in the Sierra Foothills. Music all day includes Blue Turtle Seduction, Alma Melodiosa, Cheatin' Buzzies and The Shreds. Also, demonstrations, speakers and booths about green solutions.
