Western Nevada County is under an air quality advisory through Friday due to smoke from new fires in Trinity County and high temperatures causing unhealthy levels of evening ozone.
The Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District issued the warning this morning for western Nevada County. The district also issued a smoke warning for eastern Nevada County.
The district urged residents across the county to stay indoors with air conditioning set on re-circulate during the advisory, so that bad air is not drawn inside.
Outdoor recreation should be minimized, the district said in a statement. Parents and sports officials were also urged to reduce the intensity of athletic activities.
