Reinette Senum, who was sworn in Wednesday night as the vice mayor of Nevada City, has resigned from the Nevada City Downtown Business Association board of directors.

The resignation goes into affect in 30 days.

Staying with the business association would present a conflict of interest with her new duties as a city councilwoman, Senum said.

She notified fellow board members of her intentions at a Monday night meeting, and she agreed to stay on the board for another 30 days to give them time to find a replacement.

In the meantime, Senum will recuse herself from any votes or discussions concerning the DBA, she said.

Senum was elected to the city council in June along with Robert Bergman; incumbent David McKay was re-elected to a third term.
