Trustee Klein seeks re-election in November

Sierra College Trustee Aaron Klein has announced he'll run for re-election in November to a second term on the board of trustees. He was first elected to the board in 2004. Klein represents Area 7 which includes parts of Nevada and Placer counties. He lives in Colfax with his wife, Cacey and his son, Spencer.

Five women awarded scholarships for college

The Nevada County American Association of University Women has awarded five scholarships to local students for the fall. Paige Prentice of Nevada Union High School and Brittany Balzer of Bear River High School both won $1,000 toward their college careers. Sierra College graduates Kerry Jones and Laurie Tamietti won scholarships of $500 apiece toward transfer to four-year colleges. Maggie Blumenfeld received $500 in order to return to college.
