A 57-year-old Grass Valley woman was hospitalized Monday with multiple broken bones after a man backed his SUV into her in the Union Square parking lot in Grass Valley, police said.
Marie Childers was walking in the parking lot at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday when a man driving a black Yukon Denali backed out of a parking space and hit her, Grass Valley police Sgt. Joe Matteoni said.
Childers complained of pain to her right shoulder, and she was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where it was discovered she had several bone fractures, Matteoni said.
Childers was transported later Sunday to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, the nearest trauma center, he said.
Hospital officials were not available Monday to update Childers' condition. The male driver's identity also was not available Monday, Matteoni said.
"The accident is under investigation," Matteoni said. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, he added.
