A 47-year-old North San Juan man is suspected of trying to kill his 21-year-old son during an argument by firing several shotgun rounds at him, hitting him once in the hand as he ran away, sheriff's officials said today.
Santos Jim Delgado was arrested this afternoon at the Nevada County courthouse in Nevada City on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, criminal threats and intimidation of a victim, said Nevada County Sheriffs Lt. Frank Koehler.
One of Delgados neighbors on Farrell Ravine Way called the sheriffs office Sunday to report Delgado fired 15 rounds from his shotgun during an argument with his son Friday night, Koehler said.
A pellet from one of the rounds hit the 21-year-old as he fled from Delgados trailer, Koehler said. The young man was treated for the wound at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and released the same day, he added.
Koehler declined to state the cause of the fight between father and son.
Delgado will be arraigned after the District Attorney files charges later this week, Koehler said.
