Forrest "Danny" Smith died May 12 in Grass Valley. He was 48.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at Gold Country Calvary Chapel, 13026 La Barr Meadows Road in Grass Valley.

Forrest was born March 12, 1960, in Oxnard to Daniel and Eleanor Smith. He grew up in Concord and lived most of his life in the Bay Area, where his children reside. He worked as a carpenter, building custom homes, and dedicated much of his time to helping others. He has been happily living in Grass Valley for the past eight years, taking care of his sister, Linda and wife, Megan.

Forrest enjoyed boating, fishing, working on cars, singing, playing guitar and bringing people together. He was a dedicated member of his church and was forever praying for people in need. He will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew him for his gentle and generous nature and his passion for helping others.

Forrest is survived by his father, Daniel; siblings Linda Northway and Larry Smith; wife, Megan Smith; children Daniel and Deanna and granddaughter Aubrey.
