"Reflections," a one-woman play written and performed by Grass Valley psychotherapist Ruth Ghio, is about her life in particular and the human condition in general.

She says, "All stories are universal; none ever belongs to one person. Some are so immense they cannot be held.

Even though my life is on stage here, it still is part of the larger human story.

This particular play is a story as old as Eve being punished for eating the apple. This is a woman's story."

Says the award-winning actor and director, James C. Anderson, who has known Ghio for 25 years and is directing this play, "This is a moving and intimate portrait firmly anchored in the intimacy and authenticity of Ms. Ghio's own life experience, and yet is everyone's story, and like all stories, belong to the community."

Fifty years ago theater was Ghio's passion. Now she returns to it, saying, "For me, theater embodies both terror and intimacy.

Perhaps that is why I have chosen this form in which to write and present the story of a life that I think many people, especially women, will connect with deeply."

"Reflections" will be presented in Sacramento at the Geery Theatre for four performances.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Albie Aware Inc., a local non-profit breast cancer foundation (www.albieaware.org)
