Discover The art of generosity

My heart has been touched by the "art of generosity." Nevada County is home to thousands of people who use their imagination and skills to help those less fortunate and make our community a better place to live.

"Art for the Heart," a recent fundraiser for Hospitality House (which provides shelter, food and services for the homeless) raised $12,000.

Underwritten by McCamant and Durrett Architects and organized by local artist Eileen Blodgett, local culinary artists sponsored this wine-and-chocolate tasting art auction.

Dorado and Marnatha Chocolates and Flour Garden contributed fabulous chocolate; wines were donated by Nevada City and Damiano Wineries.

Over 58 artists, including Rebecca Bleau, Sybil Shane, Georg Kickinger, and Francine Price, donated their original art - some inspired by the vision of this charitable event. Loving Home Gallery contributed their fanciful art and is donating 50 percent of all sales from buyers who mention the Hospital House (May only).

Charitable events, like this, cannot happen without the generosity of contributors, volunteers and the community who supports them and many people went home from this one fat and happy with beautiful art in hand, knowing it all went to help a good cause.
