Fairgrounds to host event Saturday for dog owners

Print Comment
A “Responsible Dog Owners Day” event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada County Fairgrounds Arena in Grass Valley.

The free event is open to owners of all dogs. Obedience, agility and grooming demonstrations will be held. Therapy dogs will be there and attendees can go to a meet the breed session as well. In addition, dogs can get a heartworm test for $15, registered for $15 and receive a microchip for $20.

Early registration on Saturday is required for the $15 “Canine Good Citizen Test,” a ten-item, non-competitive test. Carolyn Niehaus will be the evaluator.

The event is being held by Gold Country Kennel Club with proceeds going to AnimalSave, a non-profit group that will have its new mobile spay and neuter van at the fairgrounds. AnimalSave also will help with the heartworm testing and microchipping.

For more information, call Nancy Bynes at 265-0525.
