Bruin catcher, pitcher
chosen for all-star team
Bear River catcher Jenna Wermes, left in above photo, and pitcher Kelly Shepard have both been selected to play in the Senior Optimist All-Star Softball Game in Sacramento later this month.
According to Bruins coach Duane Zauner, the two Bruins will play on the North squad with 19 other team members in a game against the South team at the Capital Christian softball complex at 7 p.m. May 28.
Former Bear River pitcher Britney Ceo was chosen to the team last season, but Zauner said this was the first time he's had two Bruins selected in the same year.
Bear River, the defending Division IV section champions, open playoff action Wednesday in Stockton.
