A threesome of Mayvene Chapman, and Jack and Nancy Henderson will be inducted into the Nevada County Fair's Hall of Fame on Aug. 6, the fair's board said Monday.
The Hendersons are being honored for their support of the county's youth and their longtime support for the fair.
Chapman, the fair's concession manager, has been with the fair for 30 years.
Every year, the fair honors its supporters by accepting nominations for inductees to the Hall of Fame, a longstanding tradition.
"Jack and Nancy's primary motivation is to support the youth of Nevada County," writes Karen Henderson, who nominated her parents. "They are cornerstones in the community, and they believe in and truly love Nevada County and the fair."
The Hendersons, who moved here in 1965, have belonged to the Nevada County Agriculture Youth Boosters, Nevada County Livestock Producers, FFA Advisory Committee and the Nevada County 4H. They have been award sponsors and junior livestock and agriculture mechanic auction buyers since 1969.
Chapman began working for the fair part-time in 1978. She is responsible for the fair's vendors.
"This job requires a person who is highly organized and who has the type of personality that can get along with anyone, yet is able to be firm when needed," said the fair's chief executive, Ed Scofield. "Mayvene is just that person."
She will retire at the end of this year.
