Not guilty plea entered in shooting incident

A Nevada City man accused of shooting up his ex-wife's house while in the throes of a divorce pleaded not guilty Monday to a slew of criminal charges, Deputy District Attorney Jim Phillips said. Dwight Richard DePue (shown above) is accused of firing at the disabled woman's three-wheeled motorcycle with a shotgun and vandalizing her home on the 500 block of Brighton Street in Grass Valley Thursday. DePue, 51, denied 11 misdemeanor and felony charges Monday, including discharging a firearm at a dwelling, drunken driving, resisting arrest and battery on a nurse. DePue allegedly assaulted the nurse who was drawing his blood at the hospital, Phillips said. DePue was not charged with attempted murder, he said. DePue's ex-wife was not home at the time of the alleged incident.

n 'A Day in the Life' to be

held at the Trabucco ranch

Bill and Anna Trabucco will host a Nevada County Land Trust event entitled "A Day in the Life of an Agricultural Easement" on their Linden Lea property this weekend. The Trabuccos are embroiled in a civil lawsuit with adjoining property owner Ian Garfinkel, who wants to access his property using historic roads he says are on the Trabucco ranch. The Trabuccos say allowing Garfinkel access would jeopardize a conservation easement they have with the land trust. The event will feature a 4-mile roundtrip hike to a vista overlooking the South Yuba River with Karen Callahan of the Native Plant Society, the Trabuccos and rancher Jim Gates, owner of Nevada County Free Range Beef. The cost of the event is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. For more information, go online to www.nevadacountylandtrust.org.
